Powder Suncreen -- Brilliant!

source

Bare Escentuals have come up with the coolest, newest thing -- powder sunscreen! Okay fine, to be honest powder suncsreen has been around for a while (ex. Peter Thomas Roth powder suncsreen) but the only way to get it was to sneak it across the US border. Bare Escentuals has come up with a setting powder that has SPF 25 and it's actually available in Canada. It does not feel heavy AND it doesn't leave a white film on your face. Brilliant!

Smokey Eyes

Smokey eyes can be achieved in several ways. After doing a gazillion traditional ones (super black and super smoked out) I got bored so I decided to put a spin on it. With this smokey eye I used a bright color then I traced the crease with a contrasting dark color. As a result, it's smokey when I look straight, but it's loud and funky look when I look down. Stay tuned for my how to's for this look!

Walking the Line

I LOVE lace and bows so I try to incorporate them into my wardrobe whenever possible. Bows are easy -- they make everything look cute. The only precaution you have to take is to make sure that they are not TOO cute (that's usually my concern as it not uncommon for me to be mistaken for being 16...or 14 as some people have bluntly pointed out).

Lace is a different story. It's so risky. I generally find pieces that have a bit of lace on the back or the front of the shirt -- girly but nothing too racy. On one fateful Saturday, however,
I was feeling rather daring and decided to purchase a pair of lace stockings for my night out. Despite the fact that my original outfit walked a thin line between paying to get into a club versus getting paid to go into a hotel room (Imagine a long shirt just past the butt, thigh highs and a messy black smokey eye), I was adamant about wearing the stockings out. My friends were forced to raid the closet with me for the next hour so that I could have an outfit fit for public. It was a rocky start, but now I got the hang of them! They walk a thin line, but the fun is in trying to dress them up so that they look just right.

The pictures look a bit off because I took them after I got home from going out. I decided
to keep a reminder of how to actually wear them

A New Lipstick, A New Me

MAC lipstick "Costa Chic" and MAC lipgloss "Lychee Luxe"

Today was an especially stressful day. It was one of those days where it felt like the universe was probably, most likely, working against you. I was in a bad mood and couldn't think straight so I did the only thing I could do. I marched my tired little feet down to MAC and bought myself two new lipcolors (and an eyeliner, but I had to pick that up anyway). Some may think that this as a superficial move, but are you going to deny what a new lipcolor is going to do for you?

I have never been able to restrain myself from purchasing a lipstick/gloss/balm (as you may recall I have about 70 lipglosses). I think that my obsession with lips and lip products come from the fact that a lipcolor is such a quick fix. For a small fee and 60 seconds of your time, you can purchase a tubeful of persona. While they do not actually hold the power to change you as a person, it does change your mood and mindset. In effect your mood and mindset affects the decisions that you make. Reds make you feel powerful, sexy, and maybe a little bit more daring. Bright pinks are like a breath of fresh air, and do you feel anymore demure and sultry than when you have on a glossy nude?

Today I felt summer pangs. I cannot wait until the sun is out and I can be in a tank top and shorts again. I chose corals to bring out my tan (non-existent at the moment but I will work on it) and to feed my excitement for summer.

My "Costa Chic" lipstick and "Lychee Luxe" lipgloss has not drastically changed my life as of yet. To be honest, my problems are still the exact same as they were 4 hours ago--but I must say that I do feel a little more light-hearted. I will start my day off tomorrow as a tawny beach bunny (with the help of my trustworthy bronzers) who has all the optimism to confront her problems head on.
